Peter Lehmann Wines is proud to be a part of this year’s South Australian Living Arts (SALA) Festival hosting a number of events with illuminating light artist Denis Smith throughout the month of August.
As a continuation of Peter Lehmann Wines’ dedication to the arts community within Australia, the winery and cellar door will be involved in a number of events over the month of August showcasing the stunning landscapes of the region in conjunction with Denis’ innovative artistic stylings.
Denis is a prolific member of the South Australian artistic community known globally for his innovative photographic works. He uses a long exposure photography style in conjunction with light painting tools such as multicoloured LEDs, light sabres and high powered torches to create ethereal formations that in conjunction with carefully selected landscapes deliver vibrant and astonishing imagery.
As part of the festival, Denis will be sharing his unique photographic techniques with budding photographers through a series of master classes held on the grounds of Peter Lehmann Wines. These master classes, held by the light of the full moon, will offer guests the opportunity to create surreal and enchanting images using their own camera (cameras provided for those without). Through these easy to understand lessons, even photography novices will be shown simple yet powerful techniques to create light painting self-portraits, a ‘Ball of Light’ and other stunning techniques just to name a few. Also included as part of the master class is a sumptuous four course roaming dinner created from the finest Barossa produce carefully matched with a selection of Peter Lehmann Wines.
Peter Lehmann Wines is thrilled to collaborate with Denis Smith to offer visitors a creative new way to appreciate the beauty of the Barossa and its landscapes.
“Peter Lehmann Wines has always been a passionate advocate for the artistic community and to have such a talented artist as Denis Smith bringing our Cellar Door and surrounding grounds to life through his artwork and master class is a real honour,” said Peter Lehmann Wines Marketing Manager, Tourism and Hospitality, Olivia Barrie.
As part of the festival there will also be a selection of works carefully curated by Denis himself at the Peter Lehmann Cellar Door throughout the month of August where guests are able to enjoy some of the artist’s favourite works. This mini exhibition is open seven days throughout the festival and showcasing many works not previously shown in other shows by Denis.
“The Barossa Valley is where my photography journey began. A place where I could be at peace and discover a new life. Coming back to share the love I have for photography is such a thrill. This will be an event like no other I have been a part of.”
The South Australian Living Arts Festival is an annually run event providing the local, national and international visual artists the opportunity to team up with locations to create unique and innovative ways to share their gift with the wider South Australian Community.
